Go Vibrations!
Paving your path is such a bitter sweet journey! This process seems to begin with “Preparation” Clearing the way of all obsticles, debris and anything else that blocks the journey. Similar to what you would do when you are driving down the road and you are forced to slam on the breaks because some object appears from “out of nowhere”? We stop , we investigate the situation than we find a solution . We find a way to remove the object that has stopped us in our journey. Sometimes removing it instantly is impossible, so we now have to take a detour. I have found that by having to take a “Detour”I have discovered people ,places and things that I may have otherwised missed!
Business is very similar! Those of us that have that steel in our bones to embark on such a journey in this unpredictable and unstable economy understands this philosophy. Little did I know or was I able to predict all the unforseen issues that have arisen in the few month’s my restaurant has been opened! Those brave souls that venture into the restaurant business know what I mean. Its insanity in the beginning. Not withstanding the 8o hour work weeks coupled with employee meltdowns, and irrational difficult customers.
I am surprised that I have survived thus far. Somehow though I know this to shall pass, I decompartmentalize my life into 24 hour segments I no longer have a’week at a glance schedule” I have What to do in the next 24 hours”
Today for example I stole time, I took a day to detach . I say “steal” because anytime I leave my new business(similar to leaving an newborn child to a stranger) I take a risk, I am at the mercy of others who may not have the same business ethics and my best intrest at heart ,I am setting myself up and taking the chance of robbing myself or my guests of the passion and Good” I would intend for them otherwise” Until a baby can talk and tell its parents how it feels ,likewise a new business cannot stand alone. it truly takes time, patience , passiojhn, dedication ,and energy to pave the path of success! So until I have successfully cleared the path , all support from well wishing passerby folks is welcome!
So as I plod along this ” Journey” I keep my focus on all those guests and staff that I may leave a small impact on their lives. In the end its not the dollars in a day , or a belly I feed its the soul I nourish and the GOOD one PERSON MAY ACCOMPLISH!
